ECV Nantes

Graphic Design School

This college in Nantes is one of the five ECV creative schools, which are ranked, by professionals working in the industry, among the top establishments in France for learning graphic design and visual communication.

My teaching approach

I have had the privilege of being given the freedom to develop my own teaching programme, and over the last ten years have established a number of projects which incorporate photography into the wider conceptual and artistic process. Whether it’s reworking the idea of a “traditional” family album, shooting class portraits for a CD cover, or designing a film poster for the latest Hollywood thriller,  the students, whatever their technical photographic ability, use their imagination and all-round skills, to develop their unique creative personality. Here are a selection of their works.

School photographer

Apart from teaching I am also the official in-house photographer and cover all the major events and activities in the school year, from workshops, to conferences, exhibitions, open days, graduation ceremonies and much more besides.

This enables me to play an important role in the Community aspect of school life, and build up a rapport with the students throughout their 5- year course. I take special pleasure in photographing them on their last day at school, standing next to their diploma installation projects, when this particular educational and creative journey has reached it’s end, and the world of professional life is set to begin.
